Minimum Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proven ability to independently manage a diverse portfolio of approximately 300 tax clients, ensuring timely compliance and high-quality service delivery.
In-depth knowledge of South African tax legislation, including corporate tax, trusts, and exempt entities, with practical experience in applying relevant acts and standards.
Proficient in preparing and submitting various tax returns (income tax, provisional tax, dividends tax) and handling SARS-related processes such as objections, appeals, and dispute resolution.
Skilled in interpreting financial statements (IFRS for SMEs and full IFRS), trial balances, and management accounts to identify tax implications and risk areas.
Strong analytical skills for reviewing SARS assessments, identifying discrepancies, and formulating appropriate responses.
Experienced in client consultation, handling SARS queries, and attending SARS appointments and verification processes.
Familiarity with tax clearance and directive applications, and the ability to navigate SARS e-filing and related platforms.
Competent in using Caseware, Xero, Greatsoft, or similar accounting and tax software to support tax compliance and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Graduate or Post-Graduate Tax or Accounting Qualification
SAICA or SAIPA contract completed
Eligible to register as a PA(SA) / AGA(SA)
At least two years in a similar role within a tax compliance department in an audit firm

Duties and Responsibilities
Main purpose of Position
The role involves both managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients including Companies, Trusts, and Exempt Entities, and performing the associated tax work. This includes tax compliance, planning, and related tax services within the Audit and Small to Medium Enterprise departments.
Position overview
Portfolio management of approximately 300 clients in a tax compliance department
Completing annual income tax returns for companies, trusts and exempt entities
Attending SARS appointments
Preparation and submission of dividends tax returns
Reviewing assessments received from SARS
Objecting to incorrect tax assessments
Provisional tax compliance
Applying for tax clearances and tax directives
SARS dispute resolution process
Dealing with queries from clients and SARS
Consulting with clients
