Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Conveyor Belt Maintenance Supervisor to oversee conveyor belt maintenance, repairs, installations, and on-site welding activities within mining and industrial environments. The role requires strong leadership, safety awareness, and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality workmanship and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily conveyor belt maintenance, repairs, and installations Supervise structural, mechanical, and on-site welding work related to conveyor systems Ensure welding activities comply with approved WPS, drawings, and quality standards Plan and coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities Lead artisans, welders, belt splicers, and general workers on site Inspect conveyor components including belts, pulleys, idlers, gearboxes, motors, structures, and steel supports Conduct quality inspections on welding, repairs, and installations Ensure compliance with safety regulations, risk assessments, and method statements Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safe work procedures Report breakdowns, root causes, and corrective actions Liaise with clients, site engineers, and management Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, welding logs, and job cards
Minimum Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in conveyor belt maintenance (mining environment preferred) Proven experience supervising welding activities on conveyors or structural steel Strong knowledge of: Conveyor belt installations & splicing Pulley lagging, idlers & rollers Drive systems (gearboxes, motors, couplings) Structural and mechanical welding practices Ability to read engineering drawings and maintenance schedules Strong safety awareness and leadership skills
Qualifications (Advantageous)

Trade qualification (Boilermaker / Fitter / Millwright / Welder) Welding supervision or inspection experience Supervisory or Foreman Certificate MHSA knowledge First Aid & Basic Fire Fighting Valid driver's license
