Job Description

The Contracts Manager will oversee and manage all scaffolding, painting, and insulation projects on Sasol's Sasolburg site. This role requires strong leadership, contract management expertise, and technical knowledge of scaffolding, access solutions, surface preparation, coatings, and industrial insulation. The Contracts Manager will ensure compliance with Sasol standards, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) requirements, and legal regulations while delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:

• Diploma/Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Valid SACPCMP registration (advantageous).
• Relevant Safety Management qualification (SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, etc.) an advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum 8-10 years' experience in scaffolding, painting, and insulation projects.
• Proven track record in contract management within a petrochemical or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of Sasol's SHEQ standards and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing large multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:
Contract & Project Management:

• Manage all scaffolding, painting, and insulation contracts on site.
• Ensure scope of work is executed according to Sasol specifications and contractual agreements.
• Monitor budgets, costs, and project schedules, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
• Negotiate and manage subcontracts and supplier agreements.

Site & Operational Management:

• Oversee daily site operations for scaffolding erection/dismantling, surface preparation, painting, and insulation installation.
• Coordinate with Sasol representatives, engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
• Implement and enforce safety standards in line with Sasol SHEQ requirements.
• Ensure proper permits, risk assessments, and method statements are in place.

Team Leadership & People Management:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a multi-disciplinary team of supervisors, artisans, and contractors.
• Conduct performance reviews and ensure competency training and development.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Reporting:

• Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, Construction Regulations, ISO standards, and Sasol site policies.
• Monitor and report on project progress, financials, and risks.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for Sasol management.
