CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

1. Position: Construction Manager

2. Contract Reference: The Conditions of Contract are the "General Conditions" which form part of the "Conditions of Contract for

EPC/Turnkey Projects ("Silver book") Second edition 2017" published by the Federation Internationale Des

Ingenieurs - Conseils (FIDIC) and the "Particular Conditions" will be applicable and shall be used

5. Project Type: Civils - Bulk Water Lines

6. Project Duration: 48 - 52 Months

7. Scope of Work:

A Construction Manager for portable water steel pipelines, steel reinforced concrete works, and deep excavations projects. The candidate shall oversee the entire project lifecycle, as per six stage project lifecycle, from initial inception, planning, design, procurement, construction supervision, commissioning and handover. Candidate should be proficient with Fidic suit of contracts, particularly EPC/ Turkey. The construction Manager shall also ensure compliance with all standards and regulations, manage project performance interim of budgets, quality and schedule. The Construction manager shall also manage resources, supervise teams, and coordinate with various stakeholders to deliver projects successfully

8. Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Budgeting:

Develop project plans, set budgets, and manage costs throughout the project lifecycle.

Site Management:

Supervise daily construction activities, manage the labour force and subcontractors, and monitor the quality of work.

Team Leadership:

Recruit, organize, and manage project teams, delegating tasks and setting objectives.

Communication and Coordination:

Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to report progress, address issues, and ensure smooth collaboration.

Safety and Compliance:

Implement and enforce health and safety protocols and ensure the project adheres to all relevant building regulations.

Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks that could impact the project's schedule, budget, or quality.

Quality Control:

Conduct site visits to inspect work, ensure high standards are maintained, and manage material inventory.

9. Qualifications and Experience:

BSc / B Tech Civil Engineering / Nat. Diploma. Civil Engineering

Registration with ECSA and/or SACPCMP

Good understanding of construction works.

Legal Compliance and Construction regulations

10 - 15 years' experience in site supervision/management and construction management

CCS and Buildsmart System Experience

10. Reporting Line:

The Construction Manager will report to the Contracts Manager.

11. Performance Indicators:

Compares the value of work completed to the actual cost incurred.

The difference between the estimated project budget and the actual costs.

Compares the value of completed work to planned work.

Measures the deviation from the planned project timeline.

The percentage of projects completed by their target deadlines.

Labor Productivity: Measures the efficiency of the workforce in completing tasks.

Equipment Downtime: The percentage of time equipment is unavailable for use compared to planned hours.

Resource Utilization: How effectively resources, such as equipment and labour, are being used.

12. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Ensure procurement practices align with HSE regulations and sustainability principles.

Maintain ethical procurement practices and prevent conflicts of interest.
