Job Purpose

Responsible for the interpretation, analysing and communication of payroll legislation to ensure payroll statutory contributions and reporting compliance. Informing the product compliance team, business, and customers in advance of the impact thereof to mitigate risk.

Forging relationships with tax authorities, statutory bodies, governing bodies, advisory service providers and other third parties to ensure complete adherence to payroll compliance and in-country best practice.

Assist Compliance Research Manager with team lead responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures customer excellence

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective and targeted customers where necessary.
  • Assist the support team in mitigating client issues and complaints, identifying legislation errors and proposing resolutions.
  • Building and maintaining alliances with regional tax authorities, governing bodies, and tax advisors.
  • Expanding on the advisory network with trusted service providers and diligently keep to the advisory process.
  • Drives the company's values and service standards with regards to customer interaction.
  • Ensure business processes meet the company's quality requirements.
  • Enforces a culture of personal accountability and teamwork that is aligned to service excellence.
  • Provides clear direction and communication with regards to work standards.

Information security
  • Understand their role within the organisation from an information security perspective and commit to protecting the organisation's security information assets
Finance
  • Develops and maintains the budget process with specific reference to the department ensuring alignment too strategic goals.
  • Allocates and approves expenditure.
  • Manages costs, reviews, and reports on variances.
  • Ensures cost savings and efficiencies in area of accountability.
Self-development
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Prepare personal development plans in conjunction with Manager and implement in line with business requirements.
Payroll compliance
  • Translate and analyse the impact that legislation and changes of statutory payroll contributions and payroll statutory reports have on the business.
  • Keep abreast of existing and emerging legislation with specific reference to payroll compliance and define its appropriate application.
  • Build relationships with tax authorities, governing bodies, tax advisors and other third parties to ensure adherence to tax administration and payroll compliance.
  • Documenting all research and analysis and communicate changes to the Product Compliance team, the business, and customers timeously.
  • Anticipate future changes to legislation that may have an impact on business and system requirements as far as possible through research and analysis activities.
  • Assist the Training Department with training material.
  • Participating in activities that expand legislative and business knowledge.
  • Assisting with the resolving internal and external payroll compliance related queries.
  • Conducting auditing processes to ensure current payroll compliance understanding and interpretation is correct and in line with current legislation.
Team lead
  • Mentor and assist a team of research analysts for analysing legislative information for all countries and ensure correct interpretation, analysis, and document of information.
  • Assist Research Manager with reviewing responsibilities - ensure all documentation and communication are well structured and legislatively compliant.
  • Attending and actively participating in compliance-related meetings with internal and external stakeholders as and when needed and in the absence of the Research Manager.
  • Lead the research team with all necessary responsibilities in the absence of the Research Manager.
  • Design, implement and monitor processes and strategy within the research team to allow for productivity improvement and to mitigate risk to the business.
Reporting
  • Report monthly to the Compliance Research Manager and raise any/all risk.
