The Amy Foundation is seeking a dynamic, creative, and target-driven
Communications and Events Coordinator
to raise the profile of our organisation, drive donor engagement, and support income growth. This all-rounder will play a key role in delivering communications, marketing, PR, and event management activities while contributing to an annual fundraising target of
R2 million
(with support from the team).
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced NPO environment, be comfortable using digital tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, and Meta Business Suite, and be equally confident managing media relationships and large-scale fundraising events such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour, Golf Day, Youth Spirit Awards, and our Annual Gala Dinner (target:
R1 million
).
Key Responsibilities
(weightings indicate percentage of role focus)
1. Communications & Marketing - 30%
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy.
Manage digital platforms including social media, website (WordPress), newsletters (Mailchimp), and online campaigns.
Create compelling content and oversee design and production of promotional materials (Canva).
Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels.
2. Fundraising & Donor Engagement - 30%
Support the COO and fundraising team to achieve an income target of
R2 million per annum
.
Market Amy Foundation income-generating products (e.g. Amy's Wine, Amy's Rose, Township Tours, Hotel & Restaurant Income, Shop Products, My Difference card/app).
Cultivate and maintain strong donor, sponsor, and partner relationships.
Track and report on fundraising performance and ROI.
3. Events Management - 25%
Plan, coordinate, and execute flagship fundraising and awareness events:
Cape Town Cycle Tour
Golf Day
Youth Spirit Awards
Annual Gala Dinner (target: R1 million)
Manage external vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and logistics.
Ensure events deliver on financial and branding objectives.
4. Media Relations & PR - 10%
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets.
Secure positive coverage to raise the Foundation's public profile.
Manage external PR agencies when required.
5. Leadership & Support - 5%
Supervise and mentor a Communications Assistant, interns, and volunteers.
Provide guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to ensure effective delivery of tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
Matric certificate.
5+ years' experience in communications, PR, marketing, and/or event management (preferably within the NGO/NPO sector).
Proven track record in managing social media, newsletters, and websites.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, WordPress, and Mailchimp.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in PR, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
Experience in donor engagement and NGO fundraising.
Strong media relations and storytelling skills.
Knowledge of current digital marketing and social media trends.
