Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Dictaphone and copy-typing of a wide range of legal documents
  • Formatting, compiling, and typing pleadings, notices, and legal correspondence
  • Effecting and verifying amendments to legal documents
  • Preparing and organizing client, counsel, and resource files
  • Diary management and administrative support for multiple legal professionals
  • Handling telephone calls, messages, and general office administration
  • Preparing billing memos, pre-bills, and liaising with the accounts department
  • Managing debtors in coordination with accounts
  • FICA administration and follow-up
  • Coordinating with clients, counsel, presiding officers, experts, and service providers
  • Organizing travel logistics including flights, accommodation, transfers, and bookings
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a legal secretary (litigation focus)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word (2010+) and Excel
  • Experience using Aderant Expert (CMS) and FileSite systems
  • Matric is essential; legal secretarial diploma or paralegal qualification is advantageous, but highly preferred
  • Exceptional organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Confidential, reliable, punctual, and proactive
  • Strong client relationship and time management skills
