POSITION STATEMENT





To provide robust financial oversight and commercial support for large-scale projects, ensuring accurate pricing, costing, and profitability analysis. The role acts as a key link between Finance and Project teams, delivering financial decision support and commercial insights to optimize project outcomes.


KEY RESPONSIBILIES




Develop and maintain detailed cost models for key projects. Monitor actual vs. budgeted costs and report variances. Ensure accurate allocation of costs across project phases. Support project teams in pricing strategies and commercial negotiations. Validate cost assumptions and margins for proposals and tenders. Conduct profitability analysis for major projects. Provide scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis for project decisions. Advise operational teams on financial implications of project changes. Prepare dashboards and reports for stakeholders. Ensure adherence to financial policies and controls within projects. Support audits and compliance checks related to project finances.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION (PRIMARY DUTIES)




Prepare monthly project cost reports and variance analyses. Track committed vs. actual spend and forecast remaining costs. Maintain cost databases for benchmarking and future projects. Collaborate with commercial teams to prepare pricing models for bids. Validate supplier quotes and subcontractor costs. Ensure compliance with margin targets and shareholder expectations. Build scenario models for project changes (scope, timelines, resource allocation). Conduct sensitivity analysis on key cost drivers (FX, inflation, material costs). Identify financial risks in project contracts and recommend mitigations. Support negotiations with suppliers and clients on cost-related terms. Present financial insights to project managers and operational leads. Act as finance liaison during project steering committee meetings. Recommend process improvements for cost tracking and reporting. Implement tools for real-time cost monitoring and dashboarding.

SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES




Strong cost accounting and financial analysis skills. Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities. Commercial acumen and understanding of contract terms. Ability to communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders. Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE




Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CIMA/CA advantageous). 5+ years in cost accounting, project finance, or commercial analysis. * Experience in large-scale projects or construction/engineering sectors preferred.
