Responsibilities:
Plan, organise, lead and direct the University of Johannesburg Rugby Program.
Organise and conduct all club practice sessions to teach rugby fundamentals and skills, game strategies including performance principles.
Recruit and supervise all club Coaches and team Manager.
Responsible for training, directing work as well as appraising performance of student athlete and club Coaches and team Managers.
Represent the club at various networking events and off-site community event
Ensure that the club recruits quality players. Build relationships with schools and offer specialised coaching clinics.
Plan, conduct and oversee all teams preparation for Varsity Cup, Varsity Cup Ladies, Young Guns, USSA teams and Lions Grand Challenge league teams.
Individual player skills development and personalised coaching.
Continuous interaction with Manager and other stakeholders.
Notify the Manager on any emergencies and/or any serious player injuries and complete incident report form.
Ensure that individuals representing his/her team play according to the rules and regulations of the game and the facility.
Attendance of rugby workshops and related skills master classes.
Create and foster purposeful professional relationships with each student athlete to maximize their contributions to the team.
Develop and administer a complete recruitment plan.
Minimum requirements
A relevant Bachelor's Degree/ B-Tech (NQF 7) or relevant qualification.
IRB level 2 Coaching.
Boksmart certified.
Safeguarding certificate.
Four (4) years' rugby playing experience (University/Professional/National team.
Driver's License.
Five (5) years' related experience in coaching at a high-performance rugby environment.
Three (3) years' experience in University Coaching structure.
Three (3) years' experience in player management.

Knowledge of principles, practice/trends and techniques in coaching.

Meeting Organisational and Management challenges in the University Environment.
Effective conflict resolution and Communication skill.
The ability to set high standards, establish tough goals, and work to achieve success.
The ability to be reliable, responsible, dependable to fulfil obligations.
The ability to carefully analyse information and use logic to address issues and problems.
Together with the manager plan and oversee community engagement project.
Excellent people skills.
Good communication skills, verbal and written.
Recommendations:
IRB level 3 Coaching would be an advantage.
Five (5) years' experience in professional rugby coaching.
Relations with Sport Federations, Rugby Unions and Schools.
A qualification in management studies would be an advantage.
Knowledge of University systems, policies and procedures.
