SUMMARY:
CNC & Tooling Technician
POSITION INFO:
An automotive OEM is inviting suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the CNC & Tooling Quality Technician position in the QA Fine Measuring Room - Quality Assurance based in Kariega.
Brief Role Description

• The purpose of the function is to develop, define and plan suitable measures in order to meet customer requirements in respect of quality through prevention of problems and continuous improvement of product and service within an acceptable timeframe,
• Accountable for Quality features & standards within a specific group (Dimensional evaluation of components for Series measurements, 1st off samples, Final Approval, BMG testing, Audit Fault Investigations, Field Complaints, Supplier development, Calibration of gauges, Calibration of Measuring instruments, Calibration of Torque testing instrument, etc.).

Main duties:

• To develop, introduce, monitor and maintain measuring systems, to provide a quality and pro-active service as measured against national and international standards, to all internal and external customers regarding Series measurements and part development to ensure the quality of the product.
• To analyse, initiate, co-ordinate and implement corrective action to qualify discrepancies reported to the department to ensure a timeous and efficient service to customers within the parameters of acceptable quality standards.
• To maintain measuring equipment in his area in order to ensure that International and Konzern standards are adhered to.
• To assist, train and supervise Trainees, Junior Technicians and new employees (skills, attitudes, behavior, and computer knowledge) in order to develop a strong team of metrology technicians who will provide a world class measuring service.
• Prepare and supply measurement and SPC data for Management decisions and Konzern evaluation
• Dimensional calibration of Company fixture, gauges, measuring and torque testing instrument and maintain its history to guarantee its accuracy throughout its entire service life to encompass the quality of the vehicle and components in accordance with ISO17025.

Qualification & Experience requirements

• National Diploma/ NN Diploma in
• Trade Test Certificate Tool Maker

Added Advantage

• Qualified Toolmaker
• Experience in Pilot Hall or Supplier Quality
• Minimum of 3-5 years relevant working experience within the automotive environment.
• At least 2 years working experience with parts, assemblies' alignment, set-up and Dimensional Evaluation.
• Good knowledge & understanding of Metrology Symbols & Elements (VIM)
• Practical working experience of Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Instruments
• 3D interpretation of CAD models and technical drawings
• Good understanding of communication between Measuring facilities and Software
• CMM or CNC programming
• Good presentation and report writing skills
• Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
• Ability to make decisions and be able to prioritize
• Good communication skills, verbal and written
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office & CAD)
• Good analytical skills with an innovative approach to problem solving
