Job Description
Purpose: To meet sales and margins budget through selecting appropriate product ranges in order to provide customers with the widest range of fashion at the best possible value. Responsible for evaluation, forecasting, selection, and procurement of all merchandise in the categories for which he/she has responsibility. The merchandiser is accountable for range management, department strategies, sales, profits, margins, stock turn as well as quality control. Duties and responsibilities:
- Strategy Development
- Analyzing Competition
- Financial Analysis, Pricing /Planning
- Building Assortment and Range Plan
- Marketing / Advertising & Promotions
- Supplier Management/Negotiation
- National Diploma or Degree in business related field with Retail Buying as a subject
- At least 2 years of experience in Retail Buying
- Massmart/Related Retail experience essential
- Negotiating
- Analyzing sales data
- Detail orientated and a creative problem solver
- Critical and analytical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to persuade others
- Inventory management
- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
- Diploma (Required)
- Merchandising: 2 years (Required)
