:
The Clinical Facilitator is the cornerstone of clinical excellence and standards within
the private pathology region. This role is responsible for the ongoing education,
training, and competency assessment of all patient-facing staff, including
phlebotomists, Nurses, client liaison teams, and Charge Sisters. The facilitator
ensures that every staff member adheres to the highest standards of clinical
practice, patient safety, customer service, and compliance, directly impacting the
quality and reputation of the pathology service.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualification: Registered Nurse with SANC. A National Diploma or
Degree in Nursing Education or a Post-basic qualification in Phlebotomy/Clinical
Pathology is highly advantageous.
Essential Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in a private pathology
environment, with proven expertise in phlebotomy and specimen management.
At least 2-3 years of experience in a training, mentorship, or Charge Sister role.
Demonstrable experience in developing training materials and conducting
competency assessments.
Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of pathology laboratory procedures, medical terminology,
HPCSA/SANC regulations, SANAS accreditation requirements, and QA
principles.

techniques.

with varying skill levels.

Quality Focus: Meticulous attention to detail and a relentless commitment to
upholding standards.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify knowledge gaps, analyze root causes of
errors, and develop effective training solutions.
Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to travel extensively, adapt training style to
different audiences, and maintain enthusiasm.
Organizational Skills: Proficiency in planning training schedules, maintaining
records, and managing multiple projects.
Working Conditions:
The role requires extensive regular travel (up to 80%) within the region to
various collection sites, hospital laboratories, and service points.
The facilitator will split their time between delivering hands-on training in clinical
settings and conducting classroom-style sessions.
Must be physically able to demonstrate procedures and spend long periods on
their feet.
Requires flexibility to occasionally train staff on early, late, or weekend shifts to
meet operational needs.
