+ Inspect construction and engineering works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, codes of practice, and relevant standards.
+ Ensure that materials, workmanship, and construction practices meet required quality levels.
+ Report any non-compliance, defects, or deviations from specifications and recommend corrective actions.
Project Monitoring
+ Monitor daily site activities and progress against the project programme.
+ Ensure works are executed safely and in accordance with approved health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
+ Attend site meetings and provide regular reports to the Project Manager/Engineer.
Liaison & Communication
+ Act as the clients eyes and ears on site, representing their interests in relation to quality and compliance.
+ Liaise with contractors, consultants, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve site issues.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, reports, and photographic evidence.
Technical Support
+ Assist with the interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications on site.
+ Support engineers and project managers with inspections, testing, and quality documentation.
+ Ensure contractors follow approved method statements and quality control procedures.
Risk & Safety Management
+ Monitor and report on safety practices and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
+ Highlight potential risks, hazards, or delays and recommend mitigation measures.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (advantageous but not always essential).
Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or in a similar site-based quality assurance role within the engineering/construction industry.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, codes of practice, and construction processes.
Knowledge of HSE regulations and construction quality standards.
Excellent communication, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software is an advantage.
Membership of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) or similar professional body is desirable.
