responsibilities

  • Provide civil engineering expertise.
  • Evaluate structural loads and limits for solar structures, wind turbines, powerlines and buildings.
  • Define scopes for geotechnical studies and review proposals.
  • Conduct floodline impact assessment studies and compile Storm Water management plans.
  • Perform Front End Engineering & Design studies including seismic impact assessments, wind load studies, corrosion assessments to determine specifications for RFP's.
  • Provide expertise to project managers and others regarding structural loads and limits.
  • Conduct Traffic Impact Assessments and transport Management plans.
  • Compile level crossing wayleave applications and sign off road designs for submission to rail and road authorities.
  • Inspect and lead others through inspections and troubleshooting including authorities, code officers, and contractors.
  • Responsible to manage and evaluate site studies in cooperation with 3rd parties such as Geotechnical Study, Hydrological Study, Topographical Study, Site characterisation (assessments), Pull out test.
  • Create design drawings and perform calculations for construction roads, trenches, foundations, piling, storm water management, cut and fill and drainage, etc.
  • Responsible for the review of tracker system & module mounting structure details and calculations by contractors
  • Responsible for the design and/ or review of solar (e.g. inverter foundation, Battery storage container foundation detail, cable tray system, DCIB supporting structure etc.) and wind facility foundations
  • Responsible for compiling Request for Proposals (RFPs) for Civil studies, surveys and other FEED requirements.
  • Reviews supplier related documents and inputs per project requirement translating into the contractual obligations of technical requirements and civil designs.
  • Review of civil engineering design calculations and construction documentation from contractors
  • Compile specifications, scope of works and evaluate standards for civil works as part EPC contracts
  • Scoping and analysing survey reports such as geotechnical reports, storm water management reports, topographic maps and other data to support project investigations
  • Ensuring contractors use sound construction methods, compliant materials and construct according to contract specifications through ad-hoc site visits
  • Provide time and cost estimates for materials, equipment, labour, etc. to support project feasibility evaluations
  • Review quotations/ proposals submitted by subcontractors for civil works execution
  • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders such as Project Management, Supply Chain, Construction, Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure compliant project execution.
  • Ensures that detailed designs are in accordance with project requirements, specifications and Standards in the country of implementation.
  • Accountable for inspection and reporting on civil construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practise.
  • Ensuring contractual schedule and payment milestones are achieved, including reviewing of civil concept and detail design packages.
  • Accountable for preparation and review of work procedures and QCPxe2x80x99s

Required skills and educational background
  • BSc degree in Civil engineering; training in conducting FEED studies.
  • 3+ years' Experience in civil construction, power, or electrical infrastructure projects, preferably in the renewables sector alternatively civil engineering consultancy work.
  • Experience in substations, wind and solar projects would be advantageous.
  • Pr Eng (Professional Engineer) License may be required.
  • Complete calculations and rationale for approvals and permitting.
  • Technology design, construction, structural design, operations analysis, advanced computer skills, systems analysis.
  • Civil based engineering studies. Quality control, reliability engineering , and operation monitoring.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience, in construction, power or electrical infrastructure projects, preferably in the renewable energies sector
