Controls professional and technical processes associated with the provision of an electronic engineering service pertaining to the Water and Sanitation Unit.
Key Responsibility Areas
Provides advice/information and guidance on the principles, procedures and applications associated with the technical operations.
Determines the major objectives for the Electronics Division in discussion with appropriate Managers, formulates strategic decisions and detailed operational plans, initiates the work and monitors and evaluates the progress on such plans, taking corrective action when required.
Issues service orders to contractors to perform specific work, ensuring such work meets technical specifications and required standards and approves the relevant designs and drawings submitted by contractors.
Prioritises work taking into consideration, short and long term planning and emergencies.
Plans, organises, initiates and oversees all projects related to the selection, installation, configuration, commissioning, modification, operation and maintenance of electronic equipment, related hardware, SCADA software and other related automation software.
Investigates abnormal problems related to the performance of all electronic equipment and provides guidelines for major repairs in light thereof.
Compiles technical specifications for the electronic equipment/systems, provides guidelines on the standards of electronic and SCADA installations, and evaluates the suitability of the latest technologies, new SCADA systems and other related automation software.
Evaluates and adjudicates tenders for the supply, installation and commissioning of electronic equipment and prepares contract documentation in light thereof.
Co-ordinates and controls tasks/activities associated with controlling personnel performance, appraisals, productivity and discipline.
Co-ordinates specific administrative and communication activities.

Essential Requirements
Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (NQF Level 7) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Registered as a Professional Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Valid motor vehicle driving license.
5 years relevant post registration experience.
