Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a rapidly scaling investment and operations platform. This role is designed for a seasoned financial executive who thrives in entrepreneurial, fast-growth environments. The CFO will play a central role in building modern financial systems, driving operational excellence, supporting M&A activities, and creating scalable shared services across multiple portfolio companies.
This is not a maintenance role--it is a transformative leadership opportunity. The CFO will partner directly with the executive team to architect the financial foundation for a national platform, guiding the growth from regional businesses into scaled, industry-leading enterprises.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Leadership
Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with aggressive growth and acquisition objectives.
Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and executive team, providing insights on scaling, capital deployment, and value creation.
Lead the finance function across a growing portfolio of businesses, creating consolidated reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Present financial results and strategy to investors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Financial Planning & Operations
Build robust financial systems, including ERP and business intelligence tools, from the ground up.
Establish and maintain accurate reporting frameworks for P&L, cash flow, and key performance metrics.
Implement margin optimization, pricing strategies, and cost controls across multiple facilities.
Develop financial models to support capacity planning, facility expansion, and new market entry.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
Lead financial due diligence, valuation, and modeling for target acquisitions.
Partner with legal and executive teams on deal structuring and financing.
Manage integration planning, with a focus on financial systems harmonization and synergy capture.
Support acquisition pipeline development and investor relations.
Shared Services & Infrastructure
Create scalable finance and accounting shared services to support multiple portfolio companies.
Oversee implementation of ERP, CRM, and operational technologies to modernize finance and production management.
Build data analytics capabilities for enterprise-wide decision making.
Risk Management & Compliance
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and lending covenants.
Establish strong internal controls across business units.
Manage banking, insurance, and audit relationships.
Anticipate risks associated with rapid scaling and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years of progressive finance leadership roles, ideally with exposure to private equity, investment firms, or multi-entity operating companies.
Industry Knowledge: Manufacturing, construction, building products, or related industries strongly preferred.
M&A Background: Proven track record in acquisition analysis, deal execution, and post-merger integration.
Systems Expertise: Strong background in ERP implementation, financial automation, and data-driven reporting.
Strategic Orientation: Ability to operate at both tactical and strategic levels--rolling up sleeves when needed while guiding enterprise-level initiatives.
Leadership: Demonstrated success in building and mentoring high-performing finance teams.
CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred.
Why This Role is Unique
Transformational Growth: Be part of a 3,000%+ growth trajectory over 7 years.
Multi-Company Platform: Shape the finance function across multiple diverse businesses.
Greenfield Buildout: Architect financial systems, reporting, and processes from scratch.
Strategic Impact: Directly influence valuation, acquisition strategy, and national expansion.
Equity & Incentives: Opportunity to participate in long-term value creation.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary (above market for similar roles).
Performance-based incentives tied to growth and operational metrics.
Equity participation opportunities.
Comprehensive benefits package.
Professional development support and growth opportunities as the platform expands.
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to help build a national platform from the ground up, transforming heritage businesses into modern, scaled market leaders. The CFO will have a direct seat at the table in shaping strategy, leading acquisitions, and creating long-term enterprise value.
