We are excited to share a fantastic opportunity for a Chief Accounting Officer at our client in the automotive industry.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Head of Accounting will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, and financial reporting. The Head of Accounting will ensure that the company has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and lead Accounting Section, monthly reporting, annual audit and planning process, coordinate the overall external audit activity; administer and review all financial plans and processes. Provide input to the budget process ensuring all reporting systems reflect the approved Actual, budget and Forecast information ; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate IFRS, regulatory requirements, office management, budget, and audit requirements. Lead financial projects and system changes and developments.
Manage the Accounts Payable team(Procure to Pay) and ensure all suppliers are paid timeously, monitor the aging by working in partnership with the relevant stakeholders in the business; continuously collaborate with Treasury to assess the financial position of the company and contribute to the Cash flow planning, lead all financial project implementation and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
Mentor, develop and direct the Accounting team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
Manage the Company's tax portfolio, ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all tax matters in respect of VAT, Corporate Income Tax, Transfer pricing, Custom duty functions and any other from time to time.
Oversee the preparation of Annual Financial Statements for the company in South Africa and its subsidiaries.
Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CFO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
Monitor and enforce compliance with Group Policies and strive to maintain a good relationship with the Region as the company liaison.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
A postgraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation or Other Professional Qualification.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Financial Management:
Expertise in overseeing a company's financial health, interpreting financial data, and making informed decisions based on this information.
Analytical Thinking:
Ability to analyse financial data and extract relevant information for decision-making.
Accounting Skills:
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and industry-specific accounting principles.
Leadership:
Excellent leadership and team management skills, capable of inspiring and directing a team of accountants towards achieving the department and organization's goals.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear, concise manner to stakeholders with various levels of financial knowledge.
Problem-solving:
Ability to quickly identify and solve financial issues and discrepancies and ensure the company's financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
Computer Literacy
: Proficient in using advanced finance software systems and tools (SAP). Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is required.
Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attentiveness when dealing with financial data.
Strategic Planning:
Ability to develop strategic plans to enhance the financial health and sustainability of the company.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, ideally within the automotive industry.
Significant experience with financial management, reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Familiarity with legal and company accounting and financial guidelines, as well as experience in coordinating with legal, Tax and financial professionals to meet regulatory standards.
Demonstrated experience in managing a team is essential. Should have a proven track record of leading and developing an accounting team.
* Knowledge of the automotive industry and its specific financial operations, challenges, and trends. Understanding the industry's unique accounting needs and dynamics would be beneficial.
