Job Description
To assist management in the effective running of the kitchen and bar. Ensuring customer satisfaction by maintaining excellent and consistent standards of delivery and professionalism.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-cooking preparation and post cooking clean up. Maintain hygiene in food preparation, cooking and storage Handle and maintain knives Prepare and cook Protein Dishes; basic pastry dishes; basic egg dishes; confectionery and bakery and basic sauces and soups Prepare and cook North Indian cuisine Prepare and cook Cape Malay cuisine Prepare and present food for cold presentation Provide a buffet service Handle and store food Maintain a safe and secure working environment Maintain health, hygiene and a professional appearance according to policies Maintain productivity standards Provide a consistent and fast client service Lead and supervise allocated kitchen staff Maintain effective working relationships with other members of staff To motivate and be proactive in encouraging team commitment and spirit To undertake any other duties as and when required by Senior Management
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Ability to deal with unexpected situations and resolve emergencies. Passion for food presentation Ability to work under pressure and according to strict deadlines. Willing to work long hours, weekends and public holidays.
EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:
Matric and relevant qualification Must have experience in North Indian cuisine - prep and cook. Must have an eye for detail and adhere to consistency. Previous experience in a similar environment
