Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and technical knowledge to effectively manage your section.
Work efficiently in a high-pressure environment and maintain composure during busy services.
Manage daily food preparation and complete assigned duties in line with the restaurant's quality standards.
Follow instructions and recommendations from senior chefs and supervisors to complete daily operational tasks.
Coordinate daily tasks with the Senior Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Accurately estimate daily production needs and check the quality of raw and cooked items to maintain consistency and standards.
Ensure all food production, preparation, and presentation are of the highest quality at all times.
Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction, food quality, and cost control.
Adhere to all standard operating procedures and policies related to food preparation, receiving, storage, and sanitation.
Maintain full knowledge of all menu items, recipes, methods of production, and presentation standards.
Follow proper preservation and storage standards to ensure food safety and freshness.
Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment; promptly report any malfunctions.
Promote effective communication and teamwork to foster a positive working environment.
Take personal responsibility for hygiene, safety, and correct use of all equipment and utensils.
Work efficiently to meet deadlines and assist team members in achieving kitchen goals.
Regularly check expiry dates and proper storage of all food items.
Consult daily with the Senior Chef regarding menu changes, special functions, or last-minute events.
Train and mentor junior staff daily to ensure motivation and high performance.
Uphold excellent personal hygiene and cleanliness, setting a professional example for others.
Provide daily feedback and report any operational or quality issues to management.
Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant's quality and service standards.
Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum
2-3 years in a similar role
within a quality-driven or fine-dining establishment.
Location:
Must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate to
Cape Town, Western Cape
before starting work.
Language:
Fluent in
English
(required).
Shift Availability:
Must be available for
day shifts, night shifts, and double shifts
as required.
