Our client is looking for a Category Manager: Butchery to join their team in the Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales and profitability through effective sourcing, stock management, and promotional planning within the butchery category. This role involves close collaboration with retail butchery teams, strategic supplier negotiations, and proactive category development. The company operates in the retail and distribution sector, supporting independently owned retail outlets across the region.Responsibilities:Negotiate pricing and promotions with suppliers to secure competitive retail offerings.Maintain accurate records of all supplier transactions.Achieve gross profit targets for the distribution centre and retail stores.Monitor and manage stock levels and service performance against budgeted sales.Oversee product ranges within the butchery category.Analyse market trends and consumer behaviour to guide purchasing decisions.Plan and execute sales-driving promotions and innovations.Foster strong relationships with Retail Butchery Managers and Store Owners.Requirements:National Senior Certificate (Matric).National Certificate or Diploma in Marketing Management or a related field (recommended).Diploma or Degree in Purchasing or Commerce (recommended).Minimum of 5 years experience in the butchery industry.Previous FMCG buying experience is essential.Strong knowledge of product range requirements in a supermarket environment.Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Financial and administrative proficiency.Computer literate; SAP experience is advantageous.Proactive, solutions-driven, and innovative.
