The Carpenter Tradesman is responsible for optimizing and overseeing the development and implementation of new and current products in furniture production. The role ensures efficient use of machinery, materials, and manpower to deliver high-quality products. While driving new products and process improvements, reducing waste, and maintaining safety and compliance standards. Performing manual tasks, operating machinery, interpreting designs, adhering to safety protocols, managing materials, and collaborating with a team to meet quality and production deadlines.
Relevant certifications such as the National Certificate in Furniture Making from SAQA College of AITF are beneficial. Technical Skills, Practical Skills. Design & Problem-Solving. Attention to Detail. Communication. Analytical & Organizational Skills. Adaptability. Safety Awareness
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma/Certificate (or equivalent) 3-5 years' experience. Hands-on experience with CNC machinery, woodworking processes, and assembly lines, advantageous but not necessary. Knowledge of raw materials and their applications. ISO quality standards and health & safety regulations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Develop and design new products
Implement and improved new and current products
Read and interpretation of drawings production specification to guide the manufacturing process
Material yield (waste reduction on timber, board, and finishes).
Quality reject rate (doors/furniture passing QC first time).
