Highbury Media T/A Habari Media is a media powerhouse, whose world-class titles connect brands to targeted audiences.

We are seeking a

Journalist Intern

residing in Cape Town, currently unemployed, and seeking to gain workplace experience to join our dynamic editorial team for Cape Etc. This role focuses on digital content but may also involve some work on the print magazines.

The successful candidate will be required to do the following:

Generate story ideas daily Assist with fact-checking stories Assist with editorial tasks Assist in managing social media channels Attends events when required Other administrative tasks where relevant Consistently monitor the internet and social media platforms to identify and report on breaking and trending news stories in a timely manner

Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in media studies, English and/or journalism Proficiency in WordPress CMS and a Mac is beneficial Excellent writing, copy editing and organisational skills Able to work accurately under deadline pressure and willing to work overtime when necessary Proficiency in all major social media platforms Must be able to work night shifts and weekends. * Have a keen interest and basic knowledge in travel and nature conservation
