Overall objective of Job Function



The Call Order Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking dishes according to specific orders and recipes. Must be able to work within a team to ensure efficient and timely food preparation and delivery, maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.

Duties

:

Preparing ingredients, cooking various items (grilling, frying, etc.), plating dishes, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Order Processing:


Receiving and interpreting orders from the service staff, often through a "call order" system where tickets are called out sequentially.

Ingredient Preparation:


Chopping vegetables, portioning meats, preparing sauces, and ensuring all necessary ingredients are readily available.

Cooking:


Utilizing various cooking methods (grilling, frying, sauteing, etc.) to prepare dishes according to recipes and standards.

Plating and Garnishing:


Arranging food attractively on plates and adding appropriate garnishes.

Maintaining Cleanliness:


Keeping the cooking area clean and organized, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Inventory Management:


Assisting with stocking and rotating food items, and potentially ordering supplies.

Teamwork:


Collaborating with other cooks, chefs, and wait staff to ensure smooth service.

Quality Control:


Ensuring food is prepared to the correct specifications and standards.

Specific Tasks:

Cutting and chopping vegetables, herbs, and fruits. Grilling meats and burgers according to order specifications. Preparing sauces and seasonings. Plating cooked food and garnishing it. Ensuring all items for a specific order are ready at the same time. Maintaining a clean and organized work area. Adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations. Following recipes and portion control guidelines.
Ensuring that food is prepared efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Requirements:



GRADE 12

South African Identity Document Minimum of 3 years relevant experience Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R7000,00 - R10000,00 per month

Work Location: In person

Expected Start Date: 2025/07/01
