The position will be based in Wadeville, and the incumbent will report to the Operations Manager.

Drive Zero harm and management of safety initiatives and projects in line with Global principles, objectives, and standards; Drives strategic plan for the business unit/s to ensure business grows in a sustainable manner; Management of team members through the adherence of company policies and procedures; Management of resources and costs to ensure that productivity, recoveries, turnaround time and sales targets are met; Ensures compliance to production schedules, machine build plans, quality processes, efficiency standards and WIP; Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence (OpEx); Align resource requirements with capacity plan and conduct forward looking exercises to create predictability; Promote the K-way and the Monozukuri principles of Komatsu; Training and mentoring staff; motivating them all for effective performance for the general growth of the company; Analyze and explore market trends; identifying new opportunities to grow the business and; Coordinate with other Head of Departments and managers to integrate objectives and ideas for organizational growth.

Minimum Skills required

---------------------------

Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production Management or similar qualification); Studying towards Post Graduate Qualification in Business and/or Project Management will be advantageous; Supervisory/Management Course - Focused on People Management will be advantageous; Proven experience in leading a production team within the Manufacturing/Operations and Engineering environment; Must have experience in executing plans, delivering business goals, and implementing changes to achieve or exceed targets; Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and lean principles; Previous experience working within and/or managing a unionized workforce; Advanced computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); Experience using ERP's (SAP) and; Must have a driver's license and own transport.
