Job Description

The purpose of this role is to maintain the company's integrity, ensuring legal conformity, and fostering an ethical corporate culture in a fast-paced retail environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including but not limited to FIC Act, POPIA, PAIA, OHSA, BBBEE Act legislation and monitor, interpret, and implement such legislation within the business. Ensure business operations comply with all applicable local, regional, and international regulatory requirements. Reporting and liaison with all regulators related to the portfolio.

Advisory:

Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on regulatory and- risk-related matters. Draft and review policies and internal procedures related to the business.

FIC & Anti-Money Laundering (AML):

Ensure compliance with FIC obligations, including KYC processes, trade compliance and embargo screening, PEP checks, reporting duties, and staff training. Develop and update AML policies and procedures.

Occupational Health & Safety (OHS):

Responsible for OHS compliance in the organisation by ensuring legal compliance with health and safety regulations. Review health and safety policies and training programs.

Training & Awareness:

Develop and deliver risk and related training programs across the organization where necessary. Promote a culture of risk awareness and ethical behaviour.

Audits & Risk Management:

Assist in preparing for and responding to regulatory audits and inspections. Identify areas of compliance risk and propose mitigation strategies. Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on regulatory risk-related matters.
