Business Development Representative (Political Consulting Company)
Location: Remote (South Africa preferred)
Type: Full-Time (35-40 hrs/week)
Compensation: Competitive base salary + commission + bonuses

About the Role
We are a fast-growing political consulting firm focused on driving impact for Democratic campaigns, nonprofits, and mission-driven startups. We're seeking a results-oriented Business Development Representative (BDR) to help fuel our growth and the success of our clients.
In this role, you'll be responsible for generating leads, booking qualified meetings, and supporting revenue growth through smart, ethical, and persistent outreach. You'll work closely with leadership to identify the right targets and convert cold leads into booked calls. This role is ideal for someone passionate about justice, skilled in outreach, and comfortable in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.
What Success Looks Like

  • A steady flow of qualified meetings booked for internal sales and client accounts
  • A base of 10+ paying clients whose results contribute to commission earnings within/after first 90 days.
  • Monthly performance-based commission
  • Eligibility for an end-of-year performance bonus
  • Clean, up-to-date records and a consistent internal sales pipeline
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Research
  • Build targeted lead lists weekly based on strategic guidance (e.g., campaign staff, development directors, nonprofit leaders)
  • Use tools like Apollo, donor databases, and political directories to identify new prospects
  • Source leads for both client campaigns and internal business development
Outbound Outreach
  • Conduct daily cold outreach via LinkedIn and email using both custom and pre-approved sequences
  • Write outreach sequences when appropriate and adjust messaging as needed
  • Track outreach results using HubSpot or another CRM
Meeting Booking
  • Book qualified meetings for internal teams and client accounts
  • Manage or coordinate calendars, follow up with warm leads, and re-engage old or inactive prospects
  • Ensure all meetings booked are with high-quality, pre-qualified leads
Tracking & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records
  • Track key metrics such as messages sent, replies received, and meetings booked
  • Deliver concise weekly reports on activity and performance
Collaboration
  • Join weekly check-ins with leadership to review data and identify challenges
  • Communicate performance of outreach sequences and share what's working
  • Coordinate with client account leads to align prospecting strategies
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in business development, sales, or outbound lead generation
  • Familiarity with CRMs (HubSpot preferred), Apollo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  • Strong writing and communication skills, especially for cold email outreach
  • Knowledge of or interest in the Democratic political landscape or nonprofit sector
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Motivated by impact, accountability, and progressive values
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote setup
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background working in or with nonprofits, political campaigns, or PACs
  • Experience building outreach pipelines in the advocacy or political tech space
  • Based in South Africa with a strong understanding of justice-oriented values
