ABOUT THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UNIT:

The Business Development Unit (BDU) at Genesis Analytics is pivotal to ensuring sustainable and safe growth within Genesis. The team identifies and acquires new work to build a strategic pipeline of opportunities; leads the research and analysis of emerging market trends; manages the development of proposals; as well as leads engagements with Genesis key clients and partners on potential collaborations.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Business Development (BD) Officer is involved in all the main activities of business development. This includes supporting building a robust pipeline, coordinating small to medium proposal efforts, providing market and industry analysis, maintaining good relationships with partner organisations, and supporting the teamxe2x80x99s and companyxe2x80x99s knowledge management.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal Management (50%)

• Coordinate small to medium proposal efforts.
• Draft non-technical sections, including staff bios, corporate statements, CVs.
• Lead on compliance and administrative requirements
• Support the successful submissions of proposals.

Pipeline Management (20%)

• Scan public sector portals, bilateral and multilateral institutions, and other donor platforms.
• Undertake detailed analysis of opportunities and provide forecasting data.

Market and Industry analysis (10%)

• Monitor and analyse development trends by countries, clients, and competition
• Conduct competitive landscape analysis, in positioning for proposals

Relationship Management (10%)

• Maintain good relationships with partner organisations.
• Identify key players in each of the target markets and relevant sectors.

Knowledge management and technical learning (10%)

• Develop and maintain knowledge management library/tools for internal use and improvement of business development efficiencies across the company
• Capture information gathered internally and externally.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

Essential:

• Desire to specialise and grow into the Business Development (BD) side of the company xe2x80x93 building partnerships with individuals and organisations and contributing to develop offers for clients rather than delivering projects themselves.
• Undergraduate qualification (minimum) in relevant areas like International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, International Affairs.
• Between three to five experience working in both / either private sector and development sector in similar roles, with a proven track record in proposal management.
• Capacity to manage workload independently, prioritise and handle multiple tasks and projects while working in an organised and timely manner to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written proposals.

The following skills and experience will be considered to be an advantage:

• Working knowledge of doing business with clients like the World Bank, UN Agencies, AfDB, USAID, and FCDO.
• Experience in Long Term Agreements (LTAs), Frameworks, and IDIQs
• Working knowledge of Google Suite.
