About the Role
The Business Development Manager (SME Sector) will be responsible for acquiring new business and expanding SME accounts within South Africa. The focus is on promoting freight forwarding, clearing, and last-mile logistics services tailored to the needs of small to medium-sized businesses. You'll work closely with internal operational teams to ensure seamless implementation of services, while maintaining strong, service-led relationships with your clients.

Key Responsibilities
Identify, approach, and close new SME clients across various industries.
Promote full-service logistics solutions including air, sea, and road freight.
Develop a consistent sales pipeline and meet agreed sales targets.
Conduct client needs analysis and present tailored solutions.
Negotiate pricing and contract terms in line with company policy.
Maintain strong after-sales support to ensure service satisfaction and retention.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (operations, finance, compliance) to implement client solutions.
Attend networking events, trade shows, and industry functions to generate leads.

Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years in business development or sales within freight forwarding/logistics.
Demonstrated success in selling to SMEs and growing client portfolios.
Solid knowledge of supply chain, customs clearance, and transport services.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Target-driven with proven negotiation skills.
Matric (essential); a tertiary qualification in Sales, Business, or Logistics (advantageous).
Own transport and a valid driver's licence.
