Their investment process consistently delivers market-leading performance in both Multi-Asset and single asset class solutions. Furthermore, the company boasts a significant technology research and development capability, with substantial investments in client profiling, financial modelling, and business efficiency tools.They now seek a business development - investment specialist to join their team.JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to be an ambitious, self-driven, dealmaker who will project the company's ethos and take their asset management and technology offering to the top-end wealth management and institutional markets;
  • You will be required to follow an approach that enables its partners to address the external and internal challenges of operating an advice business;
  • You will be required to have a strong knowledge of the South African wealth and asset management environment;
  • You will be required to have established networks - this would be a distinct advantage;
  • You will be required to demonstrate a strong new business mindset, the ability to identify and address the aforementioned challenges and display exceptional relationship management abilities;
  • Key areas in addressing business and environmental challenges may include, but are not limited to:
  • You will be responsible for improving market positioning and access in a chosen niche by helping partners sharpen their marketing and value proposition;
  • You will be responsible for driving operational efficiency by leveraging the tidal wave of technology solutions being developed for this industry;
  • You will be responsible for addressing cybersecurity and business continuity concerns;
  • You will be responsible for enabling scale through technology and staffing solutions;
  • You will be responsible for leveraging thought leaders in the delivery of advice to clients;
  • You will be responsible for improving relationships and synergies between partners to drive M&A activity i.e. build a natural hedge against vertical integrators;
  • You will be responsible for enabling tied agents with meaningful client assets to make the leap to independence;
  • You will be responsible for developing multi-generational remuneration structures to ensure internal succession and the realisation of financial value for exiting advisers;
  • You will be required to execute on the team distribution strategy within identified areas;
  • You will be required to have an intimate understanding of the benefits of the company offering and pitch it at a senior level;
  • You will be required to have a clear understanding of the challenges & opportunities in the distribution landscape;
  • You will be required to have a keen ability to understand opportunities and costs to drive profit;
  • You will be required to identify prospects, develop leads, sell the benefits of the company proposition and establish long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with clients;
  • You will be required to present the company proposition effectively to advisers, investors and investment committees;
  • You will be required to complement and support team members;
  • You will be required to contribute to our dynamic team culture.
CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • You have proven business development track record when pitching to sophisticated prospects;

  • You have the ability to work in a fluid, entrepreneurial team whilst still being able to self-manage in a structured way;
  • You have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English;
  • You are comfortable working with technology;
  • You will have to become an expert on the company investment proposition and work closely with the asset management team, technology and partner relations teams.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You have a post graduate degree - investment-related - this is preferred and would be ideal;
  • You have a strong working knowledge of (and contacts within) the wealth management industry - this would be a distinct advantage;
  • You have direct industry exposure aside, your experience of life should reflect striving and healthy ambition, the ability to push oneself and have high self-expectations. There should be evidence of success (measured subjectively at a personal level) across the broader aspects of life, as well as a preparedness to risk failure in pursuit of worthy goals.
