The Business Analyst in the Business Enablement team has the responsibility to gather, analyse, document, and validate the needs of the business stakeholders and serves as the principal conduit for managing data insights requirements between the business and the data warehouse development team. Key to this role is the gathering and the interpretation of data in order to meet and solve business requirements .The individual should have the ability to problem solve and present solutions to senior management using data insights .Key to this role is the interpretation of key long -term insurance metrics to enhance the life business strategy .The primary responsibilities are to gather business requirements from business users and subject matter experts, define and document those requirements, write functional specifications, perform data gap analysis between requirements and existing data sources, coordinate with data scientists . Engage the business leads on business requirements and use data and data insights to solution. Interpretation of data is the key function of the business analyst and the subsequent business solutions and requirements
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Identify, assess and provide solutions to business requirements
Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to identify, assess, and document business requirements
Carry out the relevant assessment to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business unit, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible
Analyse impact of proposed solution across the business, develop use cases to explain/demonstrate business requirements/specifications to IT team, and contribute a business or process perspective during design reviews
Engage and collaborate with cross functional teams
Assist testing/QA team to ensure that requirements documentation can be easily translated into test plans, and ensure that the proper testing plans have been completed
Facilitate implementation of new functionality through the development of appropriate documentation
Work with test team to develop system integration test scripts and ensure the testing results correspond to the business expectations
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
NQF Level 7: Bachelor's or advanced degree in business or technical-related discipline
Business Analyst Certification (FTI) (advantageous)
Post graduate degree in Business (advantageous)
3 to 5 years of experience in providing consulting to senior business management required.
Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a requirement.
Experience in writing user stories and acceptance criteria based on business requirement in an agile development environment.
Must be a strong performer, capable of consistently producing deliverables on time.
Must possess strong SQL skills
Experience working in agile (scrum) development environment
Domain knowledge in Insurance, financial & regulatory reporting is a plus
Technical expertise working on database appliances, columnar database and big data (e.g. Hadoop, SQL Server), ETL (SSIS, Ab Initio, Data stage, Informatica) and BI (SSRS, PowerBI, Tableau, Cognos) is preferable.
Experience working with regulatory projects (Basel III, PoPI, BCBS 239) is a plus.
