Job Description


  • Manage and oversee the day to day running of the Branch operation in its totality.
  • Direct all operational aspects including distribution operations, warehousing, transport, customer service, human resources, administration and sales etc.
  • Assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities.
  • Develop forecasts, financial objectives and business plans.
  • Manage budget and allocate funds appropriately.
  • Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities.
  • Network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company.
  • Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement.
  • Responsible to manage staff, control branch debtors, ensure proper stock management and foster a positive environment within the branch so as to ensure customer satisfaction and hence a successful branch operation.
  • Need to have a hands-on approach and will be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales targets achievement.
  • Developing and maintaining key accounts.
  • Identify new markets and products.
  • Maintain stock integrity and assess and monitor stock levels.
  • Support in achieving sales budget and targets.
  • Must be able to effectively delegate some responsibilities to key staff.
  • Manage the process and hold them responsible.
  • Must be able to plan, execute and manage the stocktake process to deliver the required results.
  • Must be able to read, understand and report on all management reports.
  • Must be able to enforce discipline at all times as per the IR Process and Policy.
Key Performance Measures
  • Achievement of Sales / Margins / OPEX.
  • Ensure that Branch debtors are properly managed and monies owing by Customers / Suppliers are collected.
  • Ensure that adequate stock is carried so as to service the customers.
  • Address all redundant and slow-moving stock so as to ensure that this is kept to an absolute minimum.
  • Identify and implement innovative and creative ways to sell this stock.
  • Ensure that the stock is secure and that all efforts are made to alleviate any stock losses at the Branch.
  • Build, motivate and maintain a strong team to support the objectives of the Branch.
  • Syspro experience required.
  • Experience and knowledge of Steel & plate, Hardware, including Industrial Hardware as well as Fluid Control (Pipes, Fittings, Valves, Flanges, Pumps, Irrigation).
  • Retail Sales as well as Branch Managers experience required.
  • Needs to be able to manage all aspects of the Branch.
  • Understanding of Retail processes and procedures.
  • Strategic thinking and planning.
  • Must at least have 3 years experience in a Management position.
  • Must at least have 2 years experience in Retail and Floor Sales.
  • Strong Managerial skills required.
  • Must be able to work in a pressurized environment.
  • Must have a strong personality and be able to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Must have knowledge about the following: Sales Management, Procurement Management, Inventory Management, Personnel Management, Account Payable and Receivable, Warehouse Management, Fleet Management, Income Statement Management, Internal Policies and Procedures Management, Cash Management.
  • Must be Computer Literate.
