A leading hardware and building materials dealer in the Cape Winelands region is looking for a high-performing Branch & Operations Manager to lead their branch in Robertson. This senior leadership role carries full operational responsibility across all core areas of the business. This is a permanent, full-time, in-office position.
This role reports to the Managing Directors of the Group.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales:
Ensure the highest standards of customer service, merchandising, and store presentation are consistently upheld.
Lead and coordinate with department heads across Sales, Stock, Administration, Finance, Logistics, and Human Resources.
Operational Oversight:
Oversee stock receiving processes, cycle counts, and loss prevention measures.
Coordinate supplier negotiations and align purchasing with sales trends.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Compile a comprehensive Monthly Management Pack including:
Profit and loss summary by department
Balance sheet highlights (stock, debtors, creditors)
Cash flow versus forecast
Budget versus actual variances, with related action points
KPI dashboard (e.g. sales per m, gross profit percentage, debtor days, stock turn, expense ratios)
Consolidate results from other branches into a single reporting package.
Present financial findings and strategic recommendations to the Board.
Forecasting & Planning:
Maintain a 12-month rolling forecast, adjusted for promotions and seasonal peaks.
Stock Management & Loss Control:
Oversee receiving, stocktaking, stock reconciliation, and stock rotation processes.
Investigate stock variances and implement corrective actions.
Enforce and monitor security protocols to minimise shrinkage and stock loss.
Ensure optimal stock turnover and prevent overstocking or under-stocking.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Valid South African driver's licence.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Retail, Business Management, or similar will be advantageous.
  • At least 10 years' experience in a senior retail operational leadership role
  • At least 5 years' experience in hardware/building materials industry e.g. General Manager, Operational Area Manager etc.
Additional Advantages
  • Experience with IQ Retail software will be a strong advantage.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Advanced) and operational systems is essential.
  • The ability to interpret data and generate professional reports is critical to the role.
