We're seeking a part-time bookkeeper (approximately 8-16 hours per week) to manage the financial operations of our growing dance school.
Key Responsibilities
Process student fee payments and maintain accurate account records
Manage monthly invoicing for 250+ student families
Monitor our Parent Portal payment system and reconcile transactions
Handle new student registrations and annual membership fee processing
Process examination fees and special event payments (concerts, camps, workshops)
Monthly Financial Management:
Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions
Manage accounts payable for studio operations, costume suppliers, and venue rentals
Track and follow up on overdue accounts according to our policies
Process staff payments and maintain payroll records
Ideal Candidate Essential Requirements
Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience (dance/education industry preferred)
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
Strong Excel skills for financial reporting and data management
Experience with online payment systems and student management platforms
Understanding of South African tax requirements and business compliance
Personal Qualities:
Meticulous attention to detail with numbers and deadlines
Excellent communication skills for interacting with parents regarding accounts
Discretion in handling confidential financial information
Patience and understanding when working with families
Bonus Points:
Previous experience in the education or arts sector
Understanding of the unique financial aspects of dance schools
Familiarity with performance-based businesses and seasonal income patterns

Pay: R300,00 - R500,00 per day
