Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant

Job Description
A client based in Wartburg, KwaZulu-Natal is currently seeking a Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their team. The position requires a strong theoretical and practical understanding of accounting principles, sound theoretical knowledge, and practical application ability with regard to accounting software packages. Processing of bank, debtors, creditors and stock / inventory, and a sound practical / working application ability with regard to MS Excel.
Duties and responsibilities:
- General ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliation
- Daily capturing and processing of invoices
- Costing control and procurement
- Cash flow planning
- Asset register maintenance
- Debtor and creditor management
- Maintaining spreadsheets to accurately report on accounting requirements
- Assisting in annual budget preparations and year-end audit process
- Compilation of management accounts
- Any other administrative and operational duties as required
- BCom or similar accounting degree or extensive equivalent experience
- A minimum of three years' relevant experience in an accounting role
- Knowledge of VAT, general tax compliance and eFiling
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and accurately
- Articulate with excellent communication skills
- Ability to function under pressure and to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Computer literate with strong MS Excel skills
