The successful candidate will handle the cashbook, supplier payments, general journals, fixed asset register, and depreciation, oversee a Debtors Clerk, process payroll, and manage supplier payments via FNB Online Banking. depot in the South of Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cashbook & Banking
Maintain and reconcile the cashbooks for all group companies.
Load and approve supplier payments on
FNB Online Banking
, ensuring accuracy and proper authorisation.
Monitor cash flow and alert management to discrepancies or liquidity issues.
2. Supplier Payments & General Journals
Process supplier invoices and ensure accurate coding and approvals.
Prepare and post general journals, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany entries.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
3. Fixed Assets & Depreciation
Maintain and update fixed asset registers for all group entities.
Record additions, disposals, and transfers.
Calculate and post monthly depreciation journals.
Ensure compliance with asset management policies.
4. Payroll Administration
Process payroll for all group employees.
Ensure accurate capturing of hours, overtime, allowances, deductions, and statutory contributions (PAYE, UIF, SDL).
Prepare payslips, payroll journals, and payment batches.
Handle payroll queries, leave administration, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
5. Debtors Oversight
Supervise and support the Debtors Clerk in invoicing follow-ups, reconciliations, and collections.
Ensure debtor accounts are accurate, up to date, and properly reconciled.
6. Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly financial reports, including cash flow, creditors, and payroll summaries.
Assist with audits and year-end financial statements.
Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
7. Independent Work & Mobility
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
Use own transport to travel between company sites if required.
Requirements
Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Financial Management (NQF 5 or higher preferred).
Professional accreditation (ICB, SAIPA) advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years' experience as a Bookkeeper, ideally in multi-company environments.
Experience in payroll, supplier payments, cashbook, journals, and fixed assets.
Exposure to the transport or logistics industry is a plus.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, etc.)
Strong MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations).
Familiarity with FNB Online Banking for payment loading.
Soft Skills
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Honest, reliable, and able to handle confidential financial information.
Must have own transport.
