The Accountant / Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant financial and bookkeeping records for the
INVNT Group
. The role supports the organisation's financial operations through effective bookkeeping, accounting administration, payroll support, and reporting, ensuring compliance with South African financial, tax, and statutory requirements within an on-site working environment.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Bookkeeping & Accounting Functions
Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities within the INVNT Group.
Process daily bookkeeping transactions including income, expenses, journals, and allocations.
Perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare monthly bookkeeping records, management reports, and supporting schedules.
2. Accounting Software & Systems
Perform accounting and bookkeeping using
Xero
(essential).
Maintain general ledgers and ensure accurate data capture.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances timeously.
Ensure integrity, accuracy, and consistency of financial systems and records.
3. Payroll & Administrative Support
Support payroll preparation through accurate data, reconciliations, and documentation.
Assist with payroll queries, adjustments, and supporting schedules.
Maintain organised financial and payroll records in line with internal controls.
Liaise with HR and management on finance-related matters.
4. Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with South African statutory and regulatory requirements (SARS, UIF, SDL, COIDA).
Support audit preparation and internal financial reviews.
Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and employee information at all times.
Adhere to company policies, deadlines, and reporting standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum
3 years' experience
in an
accounting or bookkeeping role
, preferably within a group or multi-entity environment.
Strong experience with Xero
(essential).
Sound understanding of South African accounting and statutory requirements.
Ability to work
on-site in Cape Town
.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines effectively.
