Bioprocess Engineer (CT) (LC_671) Engineering (Chemical)

ESSENTIALS

MSc in field of Bioprocess Engineering or similar, 3+ years work experience, strong working knowledge of bioreactors (25L+), experience selecting, installing & operating bioreactors. Meticulous data management, strong data processing skills, resourceful with solutions-orientated approach.

Location: Salt River, Cape Town

Terms: Permanent role, with 3-month probation

Salary: Based on experience

DETAILS

Our client, a start-up, is pioneering the bioprocessing of mammalian cell culture with the end goal of commercialising bio-production, specifically for sustainable food production. This role undertakes to design and implement product development processes to optimise production to reach manufacturing yields. The ideal candidate will use their process engineering skills and expertise to custom design and model bioprocessing systems to optimize volumetric productivity, with the goal of minimising costs and improving product quality. Day to day responsibilities include overseeing the operations of multiple benchtop platforms, troubleshooting, routine maintenance and calibration of process equipment. Ideal attributes for this role include having the ability to work independently, using analytical knowledge, experience and resources to pivot research goals and ensure projected milestones are successfully reached.

REQUIREMENTS

• MSc Bioprocess Engineering or related
• 3 years working experience, post qualification
• Strong working knowledge of large bioreactors (25L+) with experience selecting, installing hardware, and operating bioreactors
• Bioreactor automation experience
• Experience in mammalian cell culture highly preferred
• Excellent communications skills, spoken & written
• Ability to work independently & collaborate with team members
• Self-driven, solution-orientated, flexible approach, responsible
