Role Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our team, responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining new and existing data infrastructure. The candidate will work closely with data analysts, business analysts, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal data delivery throughout ongoing projects. Overall, you will strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals.

To succeed in this data engineering position, you should have strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from various sources to enable data analysis for effective business decision making.
Requirements

Requirements and skills

• Relevant IT degree or equivalent diploma.

• Technical and practical expertise with data modelling techniques.

• 3-5 Years experience of SQL database and data warehouse design.

• 3-5 Years experience of developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.

• 2-3 Years experience of developing Power BI data models, reports, and dashboards.

• 2-3 Years practical experience using T-SQL with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Synapse Analytics.

• Practical experience with cloud-based Data Engineering projects.

• Practical experience with Azure Data Factory pipeline and data flow development.

Desirable skills and qualification

• Data engineering certification e.g., Microsoft Azure Date Engineer Certification.

• Familiarity with Data Mesh concepts and principles.

• Experience with data lake design and implementation.

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik or Tableau.

• Experience with the development of SQL Server Reporting Services reports or Power BI paginated reports.

• Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python or C#)

• Experience with the use of REST APIs and OAuth 2.0 authentication.

• Familiarity with non-relational databases such as MongoDB, Neo4j, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Evaluate business needs and objectives.

• Analyse and organise data.

• Set up, analyse, and automate the extraction of relevant data from various sources.

• Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions.

• Documenting data models and pipelines.

• Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.

• Ensure the data architecture supports the requirements of the users and the goals of the business.

• Optimizing data pipelines.

• Keep up to date with the latest techniques and technology trends related to data engineering.

• Implement measure to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
