Battery Materials Research Engineer (energy Storage / Battery Technology)

This is an entry-level research role ideal for recent MSc or PhD graduates who love lab work, data, and turning science into insight.
Melrose, Johannesburg
Key Responsibilities
Research and test battery materials (cathodes, anodes, electrolytes)
Design and run laboratory experiments and material characterization
Analyse experimental data using statistical tools, AI techniques, or Power BI
Support electrochemical testing and interpret performance results
Prepare technical reports and research documentation
Collaborate with R&D, data, and manufacturing teams
Stay current with battery technology and materials science trends
Minimum Requirements
MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or similar
1 year research or industry experience
Strong understanding of battery chemistry
Exposure to data analysis, AI/ML concepts, or Power BI
Solid lab safety knowledge and research discipline
Nice-to-Haves
Battery characterization techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, BET)
Python or MATLAB for data analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
