Cafe Assistant (Barista Experience Required - Franschhoek)

A well-established tourism company in Franschhoek is looking for a motivated, personable Cafe Assistant to join our lively cafe environment. This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about hospitality and committed to creating memorable guest experiences.

Please note: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on barista experience is essential for this role.

You must be confident and capable of producing high-quality coffee consistently during busy service periods.

What You'll Do

Craft all beverages and menu items to a high standard, with a strong focus on professional barista-style coffee preparation. Support daily stock management, including stock counts and reporting shortages. Deliver warm, attentive, and professional service to every guest. Follow all company procedures and food-safety guidelines to ensure a clean and compliant workspace. Assist with point-of-sale duties and provide occasional support to the kitchen team. Report any equipment issues promptly to management.

What We're Looking For

At least 1 year of barista experience (required).

Understanding of food handling, kitchen hygiene, and safety best practices. Experience operating a POS system. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Strong communication skills and fluency in English. Ability to stay calm, organised, and efficient during high-pressure service times. Positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning, and a strong sense of responsibility. Reliable transport.

Qualifications

Matric (required). Formal barista training or certification (advantageous).
