Job Description
Our bakery plant based in Durban is seeking a head baker to join their team. As the head baker, your key responsibility will be to maintain a bakery team that will produce high-quality products.
Duties and Responsibilities
Managing the bakery's production schedules.
Oversee and manage the staff.
Creating new recipes for new products and driving innovation with a keen initiative to try something new
Maintain high levels of hygiene and food safety.
Maintain a safe and organised bakery environment.
Train staff and monitor their production performance
Manage inventory and supplies.
Skills and competencies
Excellent baking and pastry making skills, including the ability to develop and innovate steps
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and training staff
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage production schedules and inventory effectively
Knowledge of food safety and HACCP
Familiar with industry trends and product developments
Qualifications and Experience
3-5 years proven experience in a bakery or similar food production environment.
Pastry qualification (advantageous)
