Back Up Engineer CommVault - Cape Town: We are looking for a backup engineer CommVault to join our IT team and deliver highly engaged proactive technical support to our Backup-as-a-Service customers. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining backup solutions using CommVault software and cloud storage systems. You will also troubleshoot backup issues, perform data recovery, and optimize backup performance.Salary range: R25,000 to R32,000Responsibilities:Design and implement backup solutions using CommVault software and cloud storage systems.Configure and manage CommVault components such as CommServe, Media Agents, and clients.Perform backup and restore operations for various platforms and applications such as Windows, Linux, Oracle, SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, etc.Monitor and report on backup status, performance, and capacity.Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and errors.Perform data recovery and restoration in case of disaster or system failure.Optimize backup policies, schedules, and processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.Document backup procedures and best practices.Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in backup and data protection.Be the primary contact for customers that you manage and for any incoming requests.Call customers proactively to notify them of issues and troubleshooting steps required.Help customers troubleshoot issues with their backup jobs; advise on backup best practices.Diagnose, troubleshoot, and advise customers on the resolution of issues preventing their backups from working effectively, this could include the customerxe2x80x99s OSs, software applications, transport, and network issues.Work across a range of customers of all industries and sizes providing first-class support to all.Carry out Windows and application patching as required.Manage tickets via Jira Service Desk and ensure all tickets are kept up to date.Respond to customers quickly and adhere to agreed SLAxe2x80x99s.Communicate with customer on the phone, by email or tickets.Provide exceptional customer service.Strive to continually enhance customer satisfaction.Ensure that all customer-related information including case history, contact information, and configuration are kept accurate and contribute to the ongoing upkeep and expansion of our knowledgebase.Support and assist other departments within the business as required.Onboard new customers and provide best practice advisory.Join the on-call rota after approximately 3-4 months.Comply with all Databarracks policies and processes relating to information security and quality management.Requirements:3+ years of experience in backup engineering using CommVault software or similar products such as Veeam, NetBackup, Rubrik etc.Strong knowledge of CommVault architecture, features, and best practices.Experience with cloud storage systems such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.Experience with backup technologies such as deduplication, encryption, compression, replication, etc.Experience with backup tools such as vStorage APIs, NDMP, etc.Experience with Windows server administration and configuration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, etc.Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.Experience with networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLAN, VPN, etc.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsGood communication and documentation skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Working Location/Environment:The role is office based in Foreshore, Cape Town with some hybrid working from home if requestedJob Types: Full-time, Permanent
