Job Summary:
The Auto Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems on construction and heavy equipment. This role ensures machinery operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime on construction sites.
Qualifications and Skills:

• Qualified Auto Electrician (Trade Test / Red Seal preferred).
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience working on construction or heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, and diagnostics.
• Experience with CANBUS systems will be advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding site environments.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to work overtime, standby, and on-site when required.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Electrical Systems Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical faults on construction and heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, graders, cranes, and rollers. Maintain and repair wiring systems, starters, alternators, sensors, lighting systems, and control units. Install and test electrical components including batteries, switches, relays, control panels, and instrumentation.
• Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools, multimeters, and software to identify electrical and electronic faults. Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Perform system testing to ensure equipment operates correctly after repairs.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime. Ensure electrical systems comply with manufacturer specifications. Identify potential electrical issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Identify and report safety hazards or defective equipment.
• Reporting and Support: Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. Communicate equipment condition and repair status to supervisors and site management. Provide on-site breakdown assistance and field service support when required.
