Child's Neurodivergence Snapshot and Support Style:
Autistic, low pain awareness, reduced sense of danger - cannot be left alone.
He presents with hyperactivity, limited sitting tolerance, occasional excitability, and reduced awareness of certain dangers. He communicates through speech, gestures, and leading by the hand, expressing needs or distress by crying, hitting objects, or walking away, and benefits from one-step instructions. He learns best through visual aids, hands-on activities, and repetition, showing strengths in visual memory, but requires 1:1 support for behaviour control, sitting tolerance, dressing, and speech development. He enjoys social interaction, hugging, and lap-sitting, but can be triggered by sudden changes, loud noises, certain songs, or wet/dirty clothing. Calming strategies include distraction, food, toys, and short alone time, while behavioural guidance works best with gentle consistency and clear authority. He has sensory sensitivities to sound, smell, and taste, alongside sensory-seeking behaviours, and benefits from vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile stimulation. He eats and toilets independently, partially undresses independently, and thrives with structured therapy-based learning, including ABA and sensory integration. Our main goals over the next 1-2 years are to develop full speech and independent dressing skills, with openness to in-school therapy and IEP collaboration.
