You as an Associate Inspection & Testing Engineer will be part of Hitachi Energy High Voltage business based in Modderfontein, South Africa. You will be part of Power Grids automation reporting to the production and test manager. You will be conducting functional testing of protection and control schemes to ensure cost-effective execution of project deliverables according to customer's specifications, associates test engineer will ensure all schemes are delivered with Hitachi Energy quality standards, within schedule, and adhere to safety requirements during factory functional testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT) phases.
How you'll make an impact
Supporting Test Engineers with product and system testing, preparing standard test procedures and completing test documentation, adhering to safety standards while performing duties and performing factory acceptance testing with customers.
Following work plans and cost estimates for work in one's area of responsibility and ensuring quality and timely implementation within targeted cost.
Supporting risk assessments to assure safe systems of work and taking appropriate actions.
Using standard processes and tools and will be required from time to time to assist commissioning engineers on site.

Your background
A bachelor's or national diploma degree in electrical or power engineering is required.
Minimum 3 years of work experience in relative fields with at least 2+ years of functional testing protection, control, and substation automation systems.
Strong collaboration and communication skills and must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with other stakeholders of the project.
Demonstrable basic knowledge of power systems and substations, knowledge of protection relays, and testing tools like test universe are highly desirable.
Grasps new or unfamiliar concepts quickly and can effectively deal with complexity.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
