Our Client who is an insurance company based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal is currently looking for an experienced Assistant Underwriter Manager to join their team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Underwriting Manager and oversee all underwriting activities, act in this role if the manager is absent.
• Develop, implement, and manage appropriate underwriting rules and rating structures.
• Provide support and approval for team members and for standard underwriting projects.
• Provide service and solutions to brokers and broker consultants to ensure business retention and profitable growth.
• Provide accurate and relevant risk reporting to relevant stakeholders.
• Direct the underwriting activities, while supporting the risk management activities.
• Assess underwriting risks and determine rates based on these risks.
• Identify underwriting trends and address proactively.
• Peruse surveys and provide input where needed.
• Apply technical underwriting principles to complex accounts.
• Actively participate in the team environment and work closely with the team leaders and management team.

• Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree (in the fields of either Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Law, or Accounting).
• FAIS Regulatory Examination (RE1 and RE5).
• Full qualification in short-term insurance advantageous.
• Registered with FSCA as a representative and Key Individual.
• Adherence to the FSCA Fit and Proper requirements.
• Minimum of 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in single risk property underwriting.
• Minimum 2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience leading and motivating a team.
• Technical knowledge of risk mitigation practices and structures relating to single risk property underwriting.
• Experience with reinsurance and co-insurance.

• R50 000 - R70 000 per month
