Job Description
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Sommelier to support the head Sommelier at an esteemed Game Reserve in Hermanus, Western Cape. Minimum requirements
- Four years of Restaurant Service experience of which at least three in a f ine dining or five-
- Computer literate.
- Strong knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, and vintages.
- Certification or formal education in wine studies. WSET level 2, but Level 3 will be preferred.
- Exc ellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact ef fectively with guests and team
- Demonstrated ab ility to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment whi le maintaining a
- Present and pour wine for guests, uti lizing proper techniques to enhance their overall dining
- Engage with guests to understand their prefere nces and provide expert recommendations on
- Ensure all wines are st ored, handled, and served in accordance with industry standa rds and
- Offer insights into the charact eristics, origins, and nuances of various wines to enhance g uest
- Conduct regular traini ng sessions for restaurant staff to enhance their knowledge of wines,
- Stay updated with industry trends and share this k nowledge with the team.
- Assist in maintaining the hotel's wine cellar, ensuring proper storage conditions and accurat e
- Monitor stock levels and collab orate with the Head Sommelier in reordering to maintain
- Collaborate with the Food and Bev erage team to plan and execute wine-related events, such
- Promote and market the wine program to guests.
