Hopetown Area xe2x80x93 Northern Cape: Our client has an opportunity available for an Assistant Manager xe2x80x93 Orchard, within their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the 130ha organic pecan orchard and assist the Farm Manager. Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Qualification in agronomy, horticulture, or similar
- Minimum 2 years of experience in orchard management
- Good understanding of irrigation systems
- Good understanding of farm machinery
- Bilingual. English and Afrikaans. (Interview will be held in English)
- Organic pecan orchard management
- Irrigation programme
- Cover crop and fertiliser programme
- Pruning
- Tree canopy and sunlight management
- Management of pests
- Harvesting
- Machinery
- Managing a team of 10 orchard staff
- Effective workforce management, coordination, and development
- Liaise with administrative staff to maintain records and documentation
- Deputising for Farm Manager when necessary
