Job Purpose
The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for suitably qualified and competent individual to conduct assessments and investigations into allegations of fraud, theft, corruption and maladministration reported to the Department.
Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Commerce / Law / Auditing / Forensics or related field; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in investigations; A valid code B (or higher) driving license. NB People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.

Key Performance Areas
Case/Project planning and execution; Investigate of assigned cases; Case closure and finalisation; Performance and information management and reporting; The following will be advantageous: Experience in conducting investigations into economic crime within the public sector; A professional designation relevant to the forensic profession.
Competencies
Knowledge of the following: Applicable legislation, prescripts, policies, acts and procedures; Legislation pertaining to forensic investigations; Research, analyse and applicable legislation. Skills needed: Proven computer literacy; Analytical thinking; Interpersonal; Communication (written and verbal); Conflict management; Project management; Good interviewing skills and ability to take statements during investigations.
Remuneration
R 468 459 - R 561 894 per annum, plus 37% in lieu of service benefits (Salary level 9)
Note on remuneration in addition Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
