The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government (WCG) has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to oversee the effective management of the asset management environment in compliance with the PFMA. The role includes overseeing three key aspects of the asset lifecycle and reporting. This includes Acquisitions, Maintenance of the department's asset register, Disposal and Financial Statement reporting. The role also entails managing staff, ensuring daily operational efficiency within the unit and maintaining governance in the environment. The successful incumbent must be willing to travel to various sites across the Western Cape.
Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Public Finance, B.Comm or Internal Auditing; A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in the asset management environment, warehouse management, inventory management or financial management; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance Areas
Oversee the daily operations of the unit; Analyse data and perform reconciliations; Provide input to the Interim and Annual Financial Statements; Oversee asset related projects (e.g Stocktake, Disposals etc.); Draft circulars, Standard Operating Procedures and Policies; Perform asset management presentations and attend to internal and external queries; Fulfil supervisory duties.
Competencies
Knowledge of the following: Public Finance Management Act (PFMA); Supply Chain Management Prescripts; Financial Accounting; Asset Management framework.
Skills needed: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook etc.); Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Communication (written and verbal); Client and goal oriented; Numeracy; Project planning and Problem solving; LOGIS system (Asset Management sections) or any Other Asset or Inventory Management system
Remuneration
R 468 459 - R 561 894 per annum (Salary level 9)
